The Best Products for Healthy Hair

Here is a list of all of my favorite hair products. I actually use these products daily and I love them all. They are actually all relatively inexpensive too!

1. OGX Intensive Moisture Mask, Hydrating Macadamia Oil, 8oz – This is the absolute best for deep conditioning hair. I put it in about once a week and leave in on for 15 minutes and then rinse. My hair feels so smooth & healthy afterwards! It’s especially important to use a deep conditioner during the sumer so it’s the perfect time to try it out.

2. Conair Dryer Infiniti 1875 Wt Two-Toned W/0.25oz Argan Oil – I love this blowdryer! I have had many blowdryers that give off barely any air, but this one actually feels like you are in a wind tunnel. It dries so much quicker and it always feels smooth and shiny when I’m done. Don’t forget the Heat Protectant though!

3. CHI Royal Treatment Ultimate Control Fast Drying Volume Shaping Spray Unisex, 12 Ounce – You won’t find a better smelling hairspray, I promise! This smells so good that I will actually use it as body mist sometimes. It isn’t sticky at all and it leaves your curls looking perfectly. It doesn’t make your hair frizzy or crunchy like many other hairsprays. Here is a site that has the Chi Spray discounted!!

4. It’s A 10 Leave-In Conditioner Plus Keratin, 4 Ounce – I use this everyday on my hair. It won’t leave it feeling gross or greasy, so you can use as much as you want. It is a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it, especially if you don’t like to use a lot of hair products. This should be your go to!

5. TRESemme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse, 8.1 oz – This is the best mousse that I have found this far. It smells really good and it definitely helps my curls hold throughout the day. I use just one pump and it’s the perfect amount. I also love that it is foamy! It makes it a lot easier to distribute throughout your entire head.

6. Victoria’s Secret So Sexy Nourish Healthy & Hydrated Conditioner – This smells so good that you won’t even need to wear perfume! My hair feels so healthy and smooth after using this conditioner. I noticed the first day I switched a difference in my hair. I like the nourish one and the volume, so I usually switch it up.

7. Chi 44 Iron Guard, 2 Fluid Ounce
– I find this to be the best heat protectant out there. It’s so light and not greasy at all. If you use any sort of heat on your hair, you HAVE to us heat protectant. Heat is so damaging to your hair! So, if you must use it, might as well protect your hair while doing so.

8. Michel Mercier No Tangle Brush – I love the Mercier Detangler Brush. I use it every morning to detangle my hair after sleeping on it all night. I don’t know why, but when I shower at night it is always more tangly than normal. This brush detangles without damaging!

8 Summer Fitness Tips Straight From the Pros!

Posted by at in Workouts

shutterstock_166599419

You’ll love these summer fitness tips to help kickstart your healthy lifestyle!

  • Pick up the pace! No matter where you are, you can pick up the pace. Walk a little faster to the bathroom, skip to your car, jog to Starbuck’s. You go so many places every single day, so why not just go a little faster?
  • Carry a reusable water bottle! We can all afford to drink more water and save the environment at the same time with a reusable bottle. If you are sure to take water everywhere you go, then you’ll be more likely to drink it throughout the day. I love my Camelbak Better Insulated Bottle, 0.6 Litre, Magenta.
  • No time? No Problem! If you don’t have time to workout, then you need to do more intense workouts in the time you do have. When you feel too tired to do anything. Get up and push as hard as you can for a short amount of time. It will be totally worth it and you’ll feel great.
  • Keep a Food Log! This is a huge pain, but you gotta do it. There is no simpler way to monitor what you are eating than by writing it all done. I’m talking every morsel, write it all down! You can monitor your nutrition with the SuperTracker and see what you need to eat more and less of.
  • Take care of pain! A little pain never hurt anyone, but if your body is telling you somethings wrong there probably is! I had serious knee probeactive-braceblems and the doctor recommended that I get a brace for running. Now I use the BeActive Brace and enjoy pain-free runs.
  • Eat more fruits & veggies! We love having a juice a day to get in all the fruits and vegetables that I don’t enjoy eating on a daily basis. It’s a really health way to kickstart your metabolism and give you some much needed energy for the day. There are tons of recipes online too!
  • Hit the Sand! Walking on sand has many great benefits. You get a better workout in the sand because it gives you added resistance. It’s also better on the knees so head to the beach for a nice morning walk or evening run.
  • Book Hotels with Gyms! Don’t go on vacation and ruin your diet. There are many great ways to still eat healthy and workout on vacation. Take advantage of swimming and all of the delicious tropical fruits that islands have to offer!

My Secret Extensions Review

Secret Hair Extensions Reviews

I love my Secret Extensions! When I first saw them on TV, I thought that I would definitely give them a try because I have always wanted extensions and these ones are pretty inexpensive. I waited about two weeks for them to get to me and I was so happy the day they got there.

First of all, the packaging is super cute and they are wrapped up well to make sure they get to you safely. They are so soft and smooth!

Now, I have to point out that these are synthetic hair and that I would love to have real ones. However, these felt just like the real thing. You can straighten Secret Extensions and you can curl them! You can even use all sorts of hair products on them.

Here is a tutorial I have on How-to Care For Secret Extensions as well.

I’d definitely recommend them and have even purchased some as gifts for my friends. I think they match super closely to almost every hair color. I’d love to hear what you guys think of them, so please comment below with questions, tips, or experiences.

How to Care For Your Extensions!

Posted by at in Hair

imageedit_2_4362740594

I love to wear my Secret Extensions, but sometimes they get tangled and messy because I use a lot of product on them. So, I wanted to share some tips + tricks for keeping them clean and well maintained. I would suggest washing them about every 4 to 6 weeks because they do not receive natural oils like our hair, so they will not need to be cleaned often. I clean mine about every three weeks simply because I use a ton of product on my hair.

1. Brush your hair, so that you get all of the tangles out before drying and don’t do any unnecessary damage to the hair.
imageedit_4_8168408539

I use the Michel Mercier Detangler Brush on my Secret Extensions because I find that it does the best job. It definitely detangles the extensions, while not damaging them or ripping out any hairs. There are very rarely any hairs left in the brush at all. The blue one is for thick hair and I think it works the best on ALL hair type. I have tried the other no tangle brushes (thin and normal hair brushes) and they did not work as well for me. You should find which works best for you though!

2. Wet hair with lukewarm water and wash with a small amount of shampoo and conditioner.

I usually fill the sink up with warm water and let them soak for a minute or so. I then wash them in shampoo and let them soak in the sink again. Then I rinse them out and add conditioner and let them sit again. After all that, I empty out the sink and run the hair under the sink water. Then I usually lay them out on a towel.

3. Let air dry and run your fingers through the extensions to keep them from being to tangled when they dry.

I have found that it is difficult to brush these when wet. So, I would suggest never doing that because you will lose a lot of hair from your extensions! I find it best to just let them air dry. I also like to run my fingers through my Secret Extensions so that I can easily detangle them again once they dry.

10 Ways to Be Active This Summer

10 Ways to Be Active This Summer!

After trying BeActive, I found a ton of ways to Be Active this summer. The BeActive Brace took away my pain, so that I was able to do all the activities that I love again. I couldn’t be happier with the results of this product and how it has worked for me.

You can get amazing results too with BeActive!

Here are some of the fun activities I was able to do again this summer to get in shape and be active again this summer.

+ Walk to lunch: Many of us work in cities where we are able to walk down the road to a Starbucks, or our favorite Mexican Restaurant. So, take a walk instead of driving. You are getting healthy, while saving the environment at the same time.

+ Take your workouts to the gym: Do your most difficult workouts indoors at a gym. It will be air conditioned and keep you a little more motivated in order to finish your workout.

+ Go for a swim: Swimming is one of the best exercises that you can do for your body. You use your entire body and cool off on a hot summer day, all at the same time!

+ Jump on a trampoline: It’s not just for the kids anymore! This sounds silly, but it also can give you a great workout. This is an activity that the whole family can enjoy too.

+ Rent a kayak: me and my sister do this a couple times each summer. What a way to workout your arms! You get the workout and a tan all at the same time.

+ Go for a bike ride: I’m sure you can think of one of those long roads that no one ever travels on. Well, that’s the perfect place for you to get a good bike ride in. It gets your heart pumping and is a great way to still get a cool breeze.

+ Walk the dog: It’s a good idea to see what kind of daily activity your pet needs. Pets are a great way to keep you motivated because most of them need even more physical activity each day than you do.

+ Early morning yoga: There is no better time to go for a workout than before the sun rises. Yoga is the perfect morning activity to wake you up and help you de-stress. You might also catch a beautiful sunrise!

+ Run in the rain: This may be one of my favorite activities. There is no better feeling than running on a warm day with a rain storm to cool you off. It also gets all the sweat off of you before you go back inside!

+ Participate in a triathlon: I like to make it a goal each summer to be in shape for triathlons. If you can run, bike, and swim just a few miles then this is the perfect activity for you to be active this summer.

Top Hair Extensions Tips + Tricks

 photo imageedit_1_78117202181_zps1af44b06.jpg

  • Tease your hair: You don’t want your extensions sliding out all night, so tease your hair at the root so that your extensions stay in better
  • Put extensions in upside down: That sounds silly, but if you flip your hair upside down when putting in extensions, you get a lot more volume when you flip your head back up.
  • Match Your Hair: If you want you hair to match well with the extensions, spray them with Shine Glossing Spray so that you hair has the same sheen as the extensions.
  • Start cheaper: If you are interested in getting extensions, I’d start with a less expensive pair like the Secret Extensions Hair Extensions for just $39.99. They are easy to put in too!
  • Cut them yourself: Save yourself some money and cut your own extensions. You need to do this while they are on, but be super careful that you don’t cut your own hair!
  • Brush them Carefully: The hair can easily be ripped out of extensions if you aren’t careful. I like to use the Michel Mercier No Tangle Brush.

10 Simple Tips For Better Hair!

Posted by at in Hair

Top Hair Products

1. More is NOT always better! Use shampoos that lathers less. Shampoos that lather too much are often overloaded with moisturizing products, which can leave build-up in your hair, making it look and feel dirtier quicker. Opt for a sulfate-free formula so you can have clean hair longer.

2. There is absolutely no miracle cure for split ends! Once your hair has split the damage is done and will require you to get a hair cut, so protect it by keeping it moisturized. Try using a leave-in conditioner especially if you are out in the sun often.

3. Don’t forget to brush your hair! Brushing the hair properly cleanses and stimulates the scalp and distributes your natural oils along the entire hair shaft, which in turn will keep hair soft and shiny.

4. Nothing beats the feeling of freshly-washed hair, but many times the thought of blow-drying it can be a deterrence. Don’t have time to blow dry? Let your hair air dry instead. The good news is that when your hair dries naturally it’s much stronger than when a blow dryer is used. The oil from your scalp helps hair look shinier too!

5. If you are using a straighter to straighten your hair, make sure that you use it carefully and rarely. If it is used too often, there are chances of your hair being damaged. Before straightening your hair with an iron, make sure that you have dried your hair completely! When the hair is wet, it is fragile and more prone to breakage.

6.  Brush dry hair before washing to loosen dirt and remove knots. Smooth locks before washing means less tangles after washing — when your hair is wet and at its most fragile.

7. Don’t have time to wash your hair today? Try some dry shampoo or baby powder to soak up the oil in your roots. You’ll save yourself an entire shampoo and blow dry event!

8. Before blowdrying, towel dry your hair. Do NOT rub your hair with the towel as the friction causes split ends, frizzy dryness and generally does a lot of damage. Instead, gently wrap the towel around your hair and squeeze, like blotting the water out of your hair.

9. Don’t EVER dry until your whole head is completely dry – you need to leave in some moisture, so your hair won’t dry out, and become frizzy or damaged.

10. The easiest way to change your hair is not to dye it, or professionally have it done. All you need to do is change your part. Doing so will change your look and have you turning heads!
