Sally Hansen Gel Nails Review

I absolutely love nail polish and having my nails painted, BUT I hate when they scuff right after I paint them or chip the very next day. So, I would spend tons of money on gel nails every month. Then I realized how much I was actually spending and went back to regular nail polish.

Sally Hansen recently came out with a Gel Nail Polish Kit, but I didn’t really want to do all the work involved with it. I didn’t want to buy the light, or have to use the tin foil to get the polish off. So, I never tried the kit that comes in the box from Sally Hansen.

The other day I was in CVS though, and saw that they had a Top Coat that you could buy that would give you instant Gel Nails. So, obviously I had to try it. I bought the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat  and a super bright color to end my summer with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Tidal Wave.

This stuff is amazing! It goes on super smooth and easy because Sally Hansen Nail Polish has the best nail brush. It is thicker then other brushes so you only need a few swipes on the nail. It dried really quickly and I had an amazing no-chip manicure in no time at all!

I put two coats of the Tidal Wave polish on. Then I used the Miracle Top Coat and I was done. I didn’t use a base coat because it said that I didn’t need it. I have now had my bright blue nails for 6 days and still no chips or scoffs in them. I won’t be using anything but Sally Hansen Gel Nail Polish from now on. It would be a waste of my time to go back to regular polish and have to do touch ups all the time.

Tease Your Way to the Top!

Extensions are the easiest option when it comes to adding volume. You simply put them in and head out the door. But in order to get that much needed extra volume on top, you will definitely need a teasing comb. It’s a good idea to tease the back of your head and also wear you are going to lay the headband. This will make your hair less smooth, so the extensions stay in place for all day wear. It will also help to cover the headband, so no one knows your secret!

Make it Match!

To make your extensions blend in better, add a little shine serum to your hair before applying the strands. This will make your hair look super soft and silky, which will match the extensions perfectly! I really like Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. It penetrates deep into the hair, makes it smooth, and cuts down on drying time.

Turn Them Upside Down!

If you are using extensions with clips, then place them n the direction your hair will be going. If you’ll be rocking a ponytail or updo, then place the clips upward. They will go the same way as the hair then and look super natural. It will feel weird and look weird if you place them the other way. My favorite clip-in extensions are from Luxy Hair. They feel natural and are so smooth and silky.

Length is Crucial!

Make sure your extensions are only slightly longer then your hair or at the same level. If they are too long, they don’t look good. You have to blend them well to have longer extensions. You could try layering them yourself or even go into a salon and they will do it for you. I like cutting them myself because I know what looks best in my hair and don’t have to worry about someone else cutting them too short.

Go Au Naturale!

On a more day to day basis, you can still wear extensions for a relaxed look. Make sure you wet them the night before and let them air dry. This will get rid of some of the shine, and give you a more natural look. You can also use foam rollers to give a nice lose wave to the extensions for a more natural beachy look.

It’s totally possible to burn more calories everyday. You just have to make the decision of whether or not you are willing to take the small steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

Your body naturally burns calories all day long, but who wouldn’t want to lose more? With these easy-to-follow daily routines you could burn 200 more calories everyday!

Walk everywhere you can!

If you are going to eat lunch at work, and are within walking distance of restaurants, just walk there. If you need to stop at the post office and it’s just down the road, then take a brisk walk. Make sure you always have a pair of sneakers in your car, so that when the option to walk presents itself you can do it. You’ll be saving on gas, helping the environment, AND burning more calories.

Take the stairs!

I know how tempting it is to take the elevator everyday, but the stairs will get your heart pumping and burn a few more calories each day. No matter where you are, the mall, work, school, opt for taking the stairs everywhere you go. You’ll be burning big time calories in no time with this step!

Play outside!

Many of us have children to keep us on our toes. So, this is an easy way for us to burn more calories. Take the kids on a bike ride or go for a walk with the stroller. You’ll be spending more time with your kids and burning tons of calories at the same time.

Park far away!

It is such a pain to try and find spots close to stores or work anyway, so this is the perfect time to squeeze in some additional exercise. If you park farther away from work you’ll burn extra calories on the way in and out everyday. You could even park on the total opposite side of the building to make your walk even longer.

Walk the dog!

Your dog probably needs a certain amount of exercise each day to get that hyper-ness out of his system. So, a walk would be great for both you and him. If you make it a routine, you doggy will love you and so will your body.

Laugh more!

Laughing burns calories too! What better way to burn calories than by having a good laugh. You could go to a comedy show or stay at home and watch a funny movie. Find something that makes you laugh and enjoy every single calorie-burning minute of it!

Run 3 Miles in 30 Minutes Easy

I have ALWAYS had trouble with procrastination and trying to stay motivated. However, this plan has actually helped me! I am able to run 3 miles in 30 minutes easily. I have even started running 5 days a week and have passed the thirty minutes. This is a great routine to follow to start out though. It definitely helped me stay motivated because it changes quickly, and every four days is something different. I hope that you have just as much success because there is no better feeling then the one you have after a run. Even if it is a good or a bad run, you still feel great and are very proud of yourself.

Secrets to Achieving the Perfect Ponytail

Perfect Ponytail Secrets

Secret 1

Wash and shampoo your hair. Unlike many updoes, it is more beneficial to have clean hair when attempting to create the perfect pony. It also helps if your hair is wet so that the rubber band holds tighter and keeps those wispy pieces down.

Secret 2

Prevent a baggy pony by putting your head back. This will give place natural tension on the rubber band and help it to leave your hair with a smooth and finished polish.

Secret 3

For that super long ponytail that we all dream of, pick yourself up some tensions. If you don’t already have some, these would be my suggestions. Secret Extensions are very low maintenance and take seconds to put in. Luxy hair has super great quality, but is a little pricier and takes more time to put in, but definitely worth it.

Secret 4

Find the perfect height for your ponytail by drawing an invisible line from the direction of your jaw line to the back of your head. That level is where your pony will be most flattering.

Secret 5

Straight hair makes for the perfect pony. So, be sure to blow your hair out straight with a round brush. That way it still has some volume on top, but will be super smooth and silky throughout the rest of your head. I use the Brushlab Jumbo Hair Brush because it works great and my hair always feels silky afterwards. Plus, it’s like the best round brush out there!

Secret 6

Placement is everything! Your perfect placement is dependent on your hair type. Thinner hair is best placed lower on the head. This will flatter the jaw line and look best. Thicker hair works best higher up on the head. It will create the perfect looking cheekbones (along with a little blush).

Secret 7

Pull a piece of hair from the ponytail and flawlessly wrap it around the pony. This will give you a seamless and classic look in the quickest way possible!

Secret 8

Use friendly elastic to secure your pony. Never use any rubber bands with no special coating. These will rip your hair out upon removal and, of course, really hurt! Blax Hair Elastics are seriously the best and they won’t leave your hair damaged.

Fall Hair Ideas For a Fresh New Look

Red is always a daring style to try in the fall. I died my hair red in the beginning of September and I love it. It was so worth the risk! If you are going to get it done though, go to a stylist and get it done right. Red is a hair color you don’t want to mess around with, especially if you don’t know hair color. I like to use Roux Color Refresh Mask to keep my color in too. I mix the red and burgundy because I have dark hair and I love the hint of purple it gives.

Make it Shine!

You may not even know it, but summer months do some serious damage to hair. To help restore hair, try using a deep conditioner. The Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask is what my hairdresser uses when I get my hair done and it works great. It’s a little pricey though. A cheaper version that I really like is It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditoner. Leaves you hair feeling so soft and smooth and I’ve noticed that it greatly helps with my split ends.

Do Something Bold!

Try something different. If you have never tried extensions, fall is the perfect time to start….just not on a windy day! I love extensions. I have multiple sets for different purposes. My plain old everyday extensions are from Secret Extensions. I have to wear two of them because they are a little thin. My favorite for special occasions is Luxy Hair. These are super thick and come in separate pieces for perfect placement. If you dare to try something REALLY different then try Jessica Simpson Clip-In Bang. They are great for totally changing your look!

Be Totally Sheek!

If you have not yet tried a totally pulled back bun or a pin straight pony, now is the time to do so. Blow hair out straight and be sure to use heat protectant. When you are done wait a few minutes for your hair to flatten a little. Add a dime sized amount of smoothing serum and pull your hair pack into a sleek bun. A very fine-toothed comb can help you to achieve that sleek look. If you have awful flyways like me, don’t forget to use some hairspray. It really works if you apply it with a toothbrush.

Learn How to Finally Grow Your Hair Out Fast

8 Secrets to growing longer, stronger, and fuller hair!

  1. Stop washing your hair so much! Every other day will suffice. If you really want to grow long hair, dare to shower only 3 times a week. This will help you to maintain your hairs natural oils, which will keep your hair looking shiny and healthy. If you have very oily roots, you can fix that by simply using a dry shampoo. Make sure if you do use dry shampoo that you pick a good one!
  2. Don’t use heat! This is probably one of the most difficult tips to follow, but you will see a difference once you stop using heat on your hair. You want to let your hair air dry as often as you can. I like to braid it before I go to sleep, or spray it with Sea Salt Spray so I wake up with beachy waves the next morning. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, 4-Ounce Bottle works the best for all hair types and it smells fantastic!
  3. Get rid of your split ends! It’s super important to trim your hair when you are growing it out. You don’t want long hair that is full of split ends, you want healthy strong, and beautiful hair. So, don’t skip that 6 month trim, unless your ends are strong and healthy.
  4. Drink water! This is a very obvious tip. Keeping your body hydrated will help to hydrate your hair. Water is good for so many things! Try to drink at least 8 glasses a day and avoid beverages that will dehydrate you.
  5. Try the pill! The Biotin pill that is. Spring Valley – Biotin 5000 mcg, Super Potency, 120 Softgels is great for not only you hair, but it also promotes healthy skin and nail growth. I know many people who this has really worked for. However, if you have acne prone skin, I wouldn’t suggest it because it can cause breakouts.
  6. Let your hair down! Avoid tight ponies and buns. You don’t want rubber bands to damage your hair and ruin all the progress that you have made.
  7. Massage your scalp! This is something that I thought was ridiculous, but my hair dresser of 5 years told me that it really is true. If you massage your scalp for just a few minutes in the shower it will increase blood flow to the scalp and stimulate hair growth.
  8. Stop dying your hair! Chemicals will ruin your hair! If you must dye it, then try using henna. It can work wonders, without killing your hair. It is also beneficial to use really good shampoos and conditioners. Try to find those without sulfates, as these can really harm your hair as well.

If all else fails and you still cannot grow long beautiful hair, then buy some extensions! Extensions look great on everyone. They come in such a wide variety of colors, that there is no way you won’t be able to find a match. I have two favorites. I like Secret Extensions as a cheaper everyday set of extensions and I like Luxy Hair as a more expensive set for special occasions.

How to Get Perfectly Wavy Hair in No Time

If you have tried endlessly to achieve curly hair, but your hair is just too naturally straight, then you need to read this! We have all tried to make wavy hair work, but for most of us, it either turns into total frizz or pin straight. Instead of continuing to wear stick-straight ponies and tight buns, you need to try these tips to get some waves — and keep them!

Once you try it, you won’t being seeing anything but waves for awhile!

Use the diffuser: You know that weirdly shaped contraption that comes in the box with your blowdryer? Well, it really does have a purpose! (I didn’t know it’s purpose until college…so don’t feel bad). While you are about halfway through blowdrying your hair, toss your head upside down. You can then use the diffuser prongs side up to almost scrunch your hair. Then just continue to dry your whole head this way.

Mousse Mousse Mousse: Many of us have all these hair products that we NEVER use. Why? I have no idea! Maybe we just like to know that they are there when we need them. Anyway, you can finally use it! There is almost no chance of your hair curling or waving if you don’t use mousse. Before using the diffuser, or ANY heat tool, apply mousse. I like to use TRESemme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse, 8.1 oz. It comes in a purple and black bottle and it’s also in my favorite products post!

Sleep in braids: There is no better way to achieve waves than by NOT using heat. Braid your hair at night before you go to bed. Before braiding spray your hair with sea salt wave spray and by morning you will have perfect wavy hair in no time. This works best when hair is dirty!

Use someone else’s hair: You can easily get wavy hair from extensions. They come wavy or you can make them wavy yourself. It’s much easier to curl hair that is right in front of you then hair that is on the back of your head!
